Questions families ask

Fair questions, straight answers.

My siblings aren't tech people. Will they actually use it?

They join from a text link and land in a view designed to be read like a note on the fridge. If they can use a group chat, they can use MayLou — and unlike a group chat, they only need to check it, not keep up with it.

What about the person receiving care — can they see it?

If they'd like to. MayLou includes a large-print, read-only view so they can see their own schedule and who's coming — many families find it gives them a real sense of dignity and control.

Is MayLou only for elder care?

No. MayLou is for any care that takes more than one person — an aging parent, a child with complex medical needs, a spouse with a chronic illness, a sibling recovering from surgery. If several people share the caring, MayLou gives them one place to share it.

Is our information private?

Yes. Everything is encrypted, access is controlled by roles your family sets, and we never sell or share your data. More on the security page.

Can our home care aide or care manager join?

Yes — with permissions that fit their role. Aides can confirm shifts and add journal notes without seeing family conversations or documents you'd rather keep private.

What happens if we stop needing MayLou?

You can export everything — the whole journal, photos, and records — at any time. And if the person you care for passes away, billing pauses immediately; there is no cancellation flow to fight through at the worst possible moment.
